Discrimination in the Netherlands?

Yes.

Having a foreign-sounding name on your CV will make it a lot less likely that you will be invited to a job interview, for example.

Ageism is also a factor. Unfortunately, online job applications almost always force you to enter your DOB. Dutch CV’s usually include DOBs and also often marital status as well as number of children.

Bias has slipped into automated systems. You’ve probably heard of the benefits scandal in the Netherlands, in which algorithms incorrectly identified people as having committed fraud on the basis of their names, where they were from and so on.

It plunged many people into massive debt and tore families apart as some children were taken away from the affected families.
